[RESULTS] 4th Junior HKSDC November 2011

Standard

German Swiss sweep awards at Junior HKSDC Tournament with a win over a gallant Chinese International in the final. Amanda Sin picks up Best Speaker trophy.

The fourth Junior Hong Kong Schools Debating Championship was held on the 19th November 2011 at the Independent Schools Foundation Academy in Pokfulam. 22 teams from 21 schools in Hong Kong participated, with each team consisting of 3-5 members. Debates were in World Schools Style.

German Swiss International School, Chinese International, St. Paul’s Co-ed and South Island School 1, broke into the semi-finals, debating the motion This House believes that the Olympic spirit is dead.

GSIS and CIS defeated their opponents and went on to debate the motion This house believes that the internet has improved the quality of teenage life in the Grand Final, with GSIS being crowned champion of the Junior HKSDC November 2011 tournament in a fascinating debate that see-sawed throughout. CIS were gallant in defeat and received the Runner-Up trophy.

Also, congratulations to Amanda Sin of GSIS for winning the best speaker award calculated as the highest average over at least 2 debates in the preliminary rounds.
