CHINESE INTERNATIONAL DOMINATE FINALS NIGHT

Standard

The Grand Finals night of the 8th HKSDPSC debating tournament saw a number of quirky results: all four oppositions won, three out of the four results were split decisions, and all four of the best speakers came from the 2nd and 3rd speaker positions.

However, in a night of high quality, high octane debates, CIS emerged as the new powerhouse of HKSDPSC senior debating by taking out both the Gold and Silver finals. In tight contests, they were pushed all the way in split decisions by Shatin College (Silver) and South Island School (Gold). Diocesan Girls’ School put the disappointments of the preliminary day behind them and rallied strongly to win the Bronze in the most decisive debate of the night over American International School who showed enough to suggest they will go onto bigger things ion the future. La Salle managed to defeat a gallant West Island School to take the Crystal final, and both teams demonstrated enough skill to suggest they will rise in the rankings next time.
